Resumen: Este artículo pretende dar a conocer experiencias con respecto al proyecto "Taller Riesgos Naturales y Percepción" del Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica, el cual tiene como fin promover la sensibilización en el tema de la prevención de riesgos entre la comunidad educativa. Su objetivo final está enfocado en cambiar el abordaje que se le ha dado al tema a nivel de centros educativos, por medio del desarrollo de una unidad didáctica para el I y II ciclo de la enseñanza general básica. La metodología utilizada se divide en tres fases: elaboración de mapas cognitivos con los niños de las escuelas seleccionadas, el análisis y verificación de información recabada y la realización de un taller en las escuelas

The objective of this article is to inform about the experiences related to the project "Workshop about Natural Risks and Perception" from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica, which main objective is to sensitize about risks prevention in the educational community. The final objective is focused in changing the way in which the topic has been approached in educational centers, through the development of a teaching unit for I and II cycles of the basic general teaching. The methodology used is divided in three phases: development of cognitive maps with children of the schools selected, analysis and verification of the information collected and organization of a workshop in the schools
