Resumen: En este ensayo se resumen algunas ideas para aportar a la discusión sobre vulnerabilidad y riesgo volcánico. Por razones actuales se abordará en mayor profundidad la vulnerabilidad económica de comunidades y grupos comerciales que dependen del normal funcionamiento del Parque Nacional volcán Poás. Se pretende, generar la inquietud acerca de la delicada dependencia que puede dar entre algunos comerciantes y la visitación turística al cráter activo. Si bien el interés por parte de nacionales y extranjeros, por visitar la cima es primarlo; otras alternativas turísticas en su entorno pueden reducir esa dependencia económica durante la reactivación y el cierre del volcán. Repentinamente las amenazas de un volcán, pasan a un segundo piano con respecto a las decisiones que se toman y a su impacto económico; provocando efectos en un segmento de la población comercial de la región. Se alcanzan algunas conclusiones que desnudan la necesidad de un compromiso colectivo entre organizaciones e instituciones en la región con aquellos actores que se declaran afectados con el cierre del volcá

This essay summarizes some of the ideas to contribute to the discussion about volcanic vulnerability and risk. Due to current reasons, the area that will be more profoundly analyzed will be the one of economic vulnerability of the community and commercial groups that depend on the normal operation of the Poas Volcano National Park. The objective is to question the subtle dependence that could be among some merchants and the touristic visits to the active crater. The main interest from national and foreign visitors is to visit the top, other touristic options in the area could reduce that economic dependence during the volcano reactivation and closure. Suddenly, the volcano threats become less important in relation to the decisions that have to be made and their economic impact; causing effects into a sector of the commercial population of the region. Some conclusions reveal the need of a collective commitment among organizations and institutions in the region with those parties that claim to be affected by the volcano closure
