Resumen: Los incidentes con víctimas en masa (IVM) son aquellos en los que se ven afectados muchas personas, lo que propicia que se deba disponer de una mayor capacidad para la atención de los pacientes, por lo que llegan a alterar el curso normal de los servicios de emergencias. El artículo trata sobre el tema de los IVM y expone dos casos de lecciones aprendidas, como lo son el atentado terrorista al World Trade Center el 11 de setiembre del año 2001 y el atentado terrorista a la estación de trenes en Madrid, el 11 de marzo de 2004

Incidents with mass casualties (MCI) are those in which a lot of people are affected, so there has to be more capacity to assist patients, this affects the regular operation of the emergency services. The article is about MCI's and present two cases of lessons learned: the World Trade Center terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 and the terrorist attack at the train station in Madrid, March 11, 2004
