Resumen:Se identifican de las estructuras para mitigar el impacto de peligros en el cantón de Santo Domingo, provincia de Heredia. En dicho territorio hay peligros y por tanto, se debe reducir su impacto. Mitigar es parte de la gestión de riesgos y ello requiere construcciones para contrarrestar el embate de las amenazas. Es importante cuantificarlas, no solo para mostrar lo hecho sino para contar con un registro ordenado de ellas. Este trabajo se hace con el fin de visibilizar lo que se ha realizado en materia de mitigación de desastres en Santo Domingo de Heredia. La investigación requirió una revisión bibliográfica y visitas al campo para verificar la existencia de las obras y su estado. La municipalidad de Santo Domingo ha realizado muros, canales abiertos, plantas para tratamiento de aguas y la estabilización de un talud.

We identifyied structures built to mitigate the impact of hazards in the canton Santo Domingo, province of Heredia. In such territory there are threats and therefore, their impact must be reduced. Mitigating is part of risk management and requires constructions to diminish the effect of natural and anthropic events. It is important to quantify mitigating builds not only to show what has been done, but also to have an orderly record of them. This work was carried out to make visible what has been done in disaster mitigation in Santo Domingo de Heredia. The investigation required a literature review and field visits to verify the existence of the structures and their condition. The municipality of Santo Domingo has built walls, open channels, residual water treatment plant and the stabilization of a slope.
