Resumen: Esta investigación pretende dar a conocer la experiencia del Comité Municipal de Cóbano con respecto al proyecto BOSAI, de la Comisión Nacional de Prevención de Riesgos y Atención de Emergencias en coordinación con la Agencia de Cooperación Internacional de Japón (JICA). Presenta algunos aspectos históricos, sociales y de vulnerabilidad de la zona. Expone las acciones que el Proyecto BOSAI realiza en prevención del riesgo, como es la capacitación-sensibilización, Escuelas BOSAI-Metodología DIGA y la Primera Feria de la Prevención de Desastres y la recuperación de la memoria histórica. Finalmente, incluye un relato de un estudiante escolar sobre la alerta de tsunami de agosto 2007 y un mapa del Golfo de Nicoya, Puntarenas

The objective of this investigation is to share the experience of the Cóbano Municipal Committee in regards to the BOSAI Project of the National Commission of Risk Prevention and Emergency Response together with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). It presents some historic, social and vulnerability aspects of the zone. It exposes actions developed by the BOSAI Project in regards to risk prevention, such as sensitization training, BOSAI School, DIGA Methodology and the First Fair for Disasters Prevention and Recovery of Historic Memory. Finally, it includes a story of a school student about the tsunami alert, August 2007 and a map of the Nicoya Gulf, Puntarenas
